AskMyKundli follows the Vedic (Jyotish) tradition — the system of astrology native to the Indian subcontinent. This is distinct from Western (tropical) astrology in two important ways:

• The Vedic system uses the sidereal zodiac, which accounts for the precession of the equinoxes — your "rising sign" here may differ from a Western horoscope.
• Vedic astrology places strong emphasis on the nakshatras (lunar mansions), dashas (planetary periods) and the houses of your chart, not just sun-sign generalities.

When you ask a question, we compute your chart from your exact birth date, time, and place — the planets' positions, your ascendant, the divisional charts, and your current dasha period are all calculated deterministically using classical Vedic rules.

That structured analysis is then handed to a modern language model, which composes a response in plain, considered language. The model's job is to express the reading well; the underlying interpretation is rooted in the chart calculation itself.

The chart calculations themselves are precise — they follow established astronomical and Vedic conventions used by traditional Jyotish practitioners. The interpretation, however, is an art as much as a science. A reading reflects the patterns visible in your chart, not a guarantee of how life will unfold.

Your ascendant (lagna) — and therefore the houses of your entire chart — shifts every couple of hours. A few minutes' error in birth time can rotate the chart by a whole house, changing the entire interpretation. If you're unsure of your exact birth time, your reading may be less precise.

Anything that relates to the human experience — relationships, career, family, health, the right time to make a decision, the meaning of a recurring pattern in your life. Open-ended questions like "what season am I in right now?" work just as well as specific ones.
